Wild tiger.

With only an estimated 3,200 tigers living in the wild, it now seems that tigers, along with polar bears and blue fin tuna, are now among the most threatened species in the world.

The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) recently released its annual list of the most threatened species on the planet, explaining that the long-term survival of many animals is increasingly in doubt due to a host of threats, including climate change, habitat loss and poaching. This year’s watch list is unique in that it includes five species directly impacted by climate change.

WWF’s 10 to Watch in 2010 list includes familiar species such as tigers, polar bears, pandas, and rhinos, as well as lesser-known species such as bluefin tuna and mountain gorillas.

The 10 to Watch in 2010 List:

Tiger
Polar Bear
Pacific Walrus
Magellanic Penguin

Leatherback Turtle
Bluefin Tuna
Mountain Gorilla

Monarch Butterfly

Javan Rhinoceros

Giant Panda
