Britain’s BBC Two is set to debut the world’s first film shot entirely by chimpanzees – Chimpcam. Primatologists visited the Edinburgh Zoo and provided the 11 captive chimpanzees with special cameras as an experiment to see how the chimps perceive each other and the world around them.
The animal experiment included teaching the chimpanzees how to choose which types of images they enjoyed watching and helping them learn to use the Chimpcam. The chimpanzee film shows the mammals examining their zoo enclosures, their own bodies and each other via a shaky ‘handheld’ filmmaking style.
Chimpcam debuts January 27th on BBC Two.
