Captain Paul Watson and the crew of the Sea Shepherd are about to set sail on the high seas next month in Whale Wars Season Three. The highly popular and controversial television docu-drama follows the international crew of the Sea Shepherd as they try to stop the Japanese from whaling during the annual hunting season.

According to Animal Planet, season three promises collisions at sea, harrowing nautical maneuver, a near-death experience in an ice field and more aggressive Japanese defenses against the Sea Shepherd.

"I have always said that we would do everything we can short of hurting people to end illegal whaling in the Antarctic," says Watson, founder of Sea Shepherd. "We have done everything we could with the resources available to us this year. We shut down their illegal operations for over a month in total. We cost them money, and we have saved the lives of a good many whales."

Whale Wars Season Three debuts June 4, 2010 on Animal Planet.

Animal Planet should be ashamed to air this farce. I used to let my children watch animal planet and thought there was some valuable educational programming to choose from. Now AP is just another ratings w***e resorting to using violence against human beings to increase ratings. Watson promotes using terrorist tactics to achieve one's goals. Though it may be argued that the show demonstrates the futility of this method as the Whaling continues and Japan shows no sign of giving it up, children don't see that. They see piracy and violence and disregard for the law glorified. I will not allow AP or any of the Discovery Communications, Inc. channels in my house until this Pro terrorist/Vigilante, Anti-Law and Order, disgusting excuse for a nature show is removed from the airwaves.

Henry,
Animal planet understands the peril the animals of the world are in. It would be irresponsible of them to not air a show with some type of conservation message when there is so much that needs to be done from a conservation point of view. Bringing the struggles of the few who try to save animals into the homes of families around thew world opens their eyes to the greater problems in our ecosystems and allows them to join the debate. We cant make a difference if we think nothing is wrong. I personally applaud animal planet for airing this television because it has a strong message, and it stands up for the animals (and it is the animal planet...not "cute cuddly sugar coated animals in zoo's channel". Its real life. deal with it...) If you don't like it, change the channel, i guarantee you will find more violence in some cartoons or advertisements than in Whale wars. Happy channel surfing Henry.

Come on... those guys are attacking LEGAL fishermen... no matter their intentions

I live on the coast about 5 minutes bike ride from the beach and I can assure
you that if i started throwing stink bombs and boarding other people's boats in an attempt to save animals, I would be arrested (probably after a good beating), charged with a number of offenses, and fined heavily.

Luckily enough for us Henry, the children watching it also don't understand that in order
to conduct these "wars" they are willing to spend hundreds of millions of dollars. I read not too long ago Mr. Bob Barker donated 5, 000, 000 dollars to the cause... well, I did some calculations, and that much money could feed 10,000 families for a month or 830 families for a year OR paid for 33 heart transplants or 100 kidney transplants.. they saved an est. 528 whales... because I would have a real hard time explaining to my 5 and 3yr old children why
people think its so much more important to save whales than help out a fellow human being.

Season 3 promises a collision at sea! .... what will season 4 bring -- Deaths? Murders? awesome-
maybe they'll release a good Whale Wars Video Game soon < thats sarcasm for those of you not quite quick enough to get it.

id just like to point out im 18, half japanese and this is exactly what i live for, people who think airing this is wrong should have a reality check.
you need to open your eyes and realise whats going on in the world.
theres nothing id rather do than harrass people who kill innocent animals for their own personal greed.

If you guys are talking about kids watching the program and you have concerns about violence the program has, then you as a parent should be vigilant with what your kids watch. It's as easy as putting "parental control" to what your kids watch. Did you ask them if they ever watched "Tom and Jerry"? Don't be so critical and yet you don't know what's happening in you own backyard. Besides, what would you tell your children if whales are extinct? These so called "legal fishermen" put up a RESEARCH sign to their boat, and goes to a whale-killing spree. From what I understand, research doesn't need like 50 or so whales to be killed, and it certainly doesn't need 5 or more ships. Fishermen fish for a living, these guys kill whales for millions of dollars! I'm sure those people who support the cause by giving money had also given donations to feed and aid needy people. Just my opinion.

To colton
I did some calculations, and in the time you spent doing your calculations you could have donated your time to a homeless shelter, made a meal for a needy person, delivered a meal to the elderly, or mentored a child in need...whatever. Stop complaining about the effort others are putting toward a cause that is dear to their heart and put as much effort into whatever cause you desire. It takes different people and different causes to take care of such a large and diverse planet that we live on. Humans do need help, but so do animals. At least they are doing something about it. You should stop complaining and stop "explaining" to your children and lead by example.

My goodness people. Henry Nelson, change your channel and review what is showing on Animal Planet to be sure what is on is not disturbing to you. If you are receiving Animal Planet on your TV you probably have well over 100 other channels (Disney?) to watch while Whale Wars in on. And Cotton, those are not legal fisherman. It is illegal to kill whales. Sophia and Erick see the big picture, good for both of them.
