Japanese artist Takeshi Kawano's sculptures depict animals suffering the ramifications of global climate change. In his poignant sculpture series a deer, polar bear, and penguin pair, are depicted dissolving from the effects of polar ice caps melting and the inundation of rising sea levels on low-lying land.

Animal deaths and extinctions due to habitat loss resulting from global climate change are emotionally and emphatically dramatized in Kawano’s work.
