Designer and installation artist Gerry Judah has fashioned a fitting ode to the automobile. Created to celebrate Audi’s achievements in motor sport, the dramatic Audi Centenary Sculpture at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2009 contains unintended metaphors about the future of the automobile.
Art is unquestionably subjective. But what struck us about the stunning swoosh of the tire tracks driving off into the sky is that the installation also shows “the end of the road”, “a highway to nowhere” and “a slippery slope for the automobile”.
