Wood Bending Display

E-mail Print

Spirit of the Forest window display for Harvey Nichols in Knightsbridge, London is the latest installation from UK designer and wood-bending extraordinaire Charlie Whinney.

The 50 metre long steam-bent Oak and Ash sculpture transforms the front of the Harvey Nichols shop. In total, the display includes over 450 metres of steam-bent wood, which twist, curve, and coil their way through the length of the store including over the main entrance.

The sculpture is another one-of-a-kind creation that pushes the steam-bending process of eco-friendly green wood more than ever before, and further establishes Charlie Whinney as one of the world leaders of using wood in innovative ways.

The display continues through August 2009.
