“What will our future look like? We already know that we cannot build a future that retains continuity with our present, because the planet’s resources are dwindling much faster than the time we allow them to regenerate,” explains Brussels architect Luc Schuiten of his exhibition Vegetal City.

Vegetal City: Idealistic Visions of Our Urban Future, currently on display at the Musée du Cinquantenaire in Brussels, explores the vision of futuristic cities built in harmony with nature. The possibilities are both stunning and more than a little intriguing.

Comprised of drawings and sculptures, Vegetal City features different renditions of futuristic cities including The Woven City, The Lotus City and The Wave City. In Schuiten’s vision, living greenery is an integrated component of the urban landscape.

The Vegetal City exhibit continues until August 2009.
