Canadian artist Eric Sauvé takes broken glass bottles and transforms them into stunning chandeliers. The broken bottle light artworks evoke the luxury and decadence of a bygone era, undermined by the use of a common material.
“This piece is part of an exploration of the process of creation through destruction and accumulation, and a search for the ambivalence of multiple and contradictory reactions,” explains the artist. “The fragility and delicacy of the material is in tension with the threat of its keen edges which provoke a visceral awareness of our vulnerability.”
Since creating the broken bottles chandeliers for an art installation, the artist has been commissioned to build others as permanent fixtures in public spaces and for private collections.
