400 Thousand Generations, 2009 by Mariele Neudecker.

GSK Contemporary’s Earth: Art of a Changing World is an exhibition of more than 30 international contemporary artists focusing on, as the title suggests, how the earth will change with climate change.

The exhibit statement explains “Earth navigates us through a series of realities - perceived, real, threatened and super-real, which will allow the visitor to register the conversations and stories that will guide us to a different level of understanding. Beginning in Darwin’s anniversary year, and within the very organization where he delivered his significant lecture on the Origin of Species, the consideration of the issue of climate change through the work of artists, encourages fresh provocations in relation to the notion of ‘survival of the fittest’.”

The exhibit is divided into several components including an overview of the various elements of the earth, artistic renditions of our current world, deconstruction of the planet and the New Reality – what the future holds for the earth and its inhabitants.

Earth: Art of a Changing World runs from December 3, 2009 to January 31, 2010 at the Royal Academy of Arts in London, England.
