In the middle of England’s Kielder Forest sits an enormous wooden head - Silvas Capitalis (Forest Head). Created by American-based SIMPARCH, the two-story building, complete with lookout eyes, stairs and a sitting bench, is a stunning addition to the popular Northumberland forest recreation area.

The handmade Silvas Capitalis, created from more than 3,000 specially shaped pieces of European Larch, was inspired by Celtic gods and is described as a "large, anthropomorphic offering” to the forest. The wooden sculpture forms part of the Kielder Forest’s art collection at the largest outdoor public art gallery in the UK.
