American artist Gabriel Dishaw takes discarded bits of wire, bolts, screws and circuit board scraps and upcycles the recycled parts into stunning sculptures.

Using iconic sneakers for inspiration, Dishaw’s sculptures highlight the growing problem of e-waste in the world’s landfills. The latest design from the iconic e-waste artist is the Blazer Byte sneaker – also created entirely from metal waste.
“This sculpture is part of a shoes series I'm working on where I revisit some of my favourite classic sneaker silhouettes. This time around I again took on the classic Blazer but in a much smaller size,” explains the artist.

Electronic waste or e-waste, a 21st century phenomena, refers to the broken or obsolete computers, printers, televisions, stereos, and telephones that have now entered the world’s waste stream. Greenpeace International estimates that globally more than 20-50 million tons of e-waste is generated each year. Discarded electronics now take up as much space in landfills as plastic packaging.
