Suicide Penguins by Vincent J.F Huang.

Polar bears and penguins committing suicide is the focus of a series of provocative art installations by Taiwanese artist Vincent J.F Huang. Dubbed the Suicide Penguins, Huang’s art explores the negative effects global climate change is having on the animals of the world, in particular the creatures living at the North and South Poles.

The Suicide Penguins art installation, located under Millennium Bridge in London, England features two glass penguins and a stuffed polar bear hanging from nooses.

The artist’s website contains the following note from the penguins:

To all human beings,

We are a delegation of penguins from the South Pole, mandated by our peoples to travel to important human's cities to alert them about global warming caused by human impact and the peril it represents for our future.

We are at the first stage of our rescue plan, consisting into a peaceful demonstration. We hope that our message will be heard and promptly acted upon by the humans before we have to step up our actions (protestation to highest authorities and ultimately urban guerrilla). We have already heard of isolated but desperate suicide acts.

We are very appreciative of the support of Taiwanese artist, Vincent J.F. Huang, who is lending his assistance to our lifesaving mission.

Yours faithfully,

Penguins Representative Bureau of London
