Lately, there is certainly no end of amazing prizes and awards trying to help us get out of the global mess the world is in. There are the X List Prizes, the Fly Your Ideas Contest and The Ashden Awards for Sustainable Energy. The next hot award opportunity is The Earth Awards - a global search for future-crucial design solutions that will improve our collective social, cultural, economic and ecological quality of life. The Earth Awards are now accepting submissions in the categories of product design, architecture, fashion, food, alternative energy and more.
Submissions need to be achievable, scalable, practical (that is sort of subjective isn’t it?), collaborative, inclusive, original and energy-reducing. Entry submissions will be reviewed by some of the greatest thinkers of the 21st century: designers, architects, philosophers, scientists, economists, actors, activists, environmentalist and entrepreneurs.
Finalists will be flown to New York City for an awards ceremony gala in 2009, where the first prize-winner will be announced. The winner will receive a monetary prize, and all finalists will receive the opportunity to pitch their ideas to industry leaders including venture capitalists, industrialists and Fortune 500 business leaders.
Entry submissions must be received no later than December 1, 2008.
