Recycled Brickchandelier

E-mail Print

The Brickchandelier and the Brickchair, created by Dutch designer Pepe Heykoop, are made with recycled children’s wooden blocks.  The Brickchair was inspired by the illustration called All The Chairs I Sat On, by American artist James Gulliver Hancock.

The artist explains the Brickchair with; “I fell in love with the image immediately. The chair up left in the corner caught my eye. From now on I could only think of bricks when looking at the picture. The Brickchair is the interpretation of a drawing, which was already an interpretation of an old existing chair. It transformed twice and ended up in bricks. After the Brickchair I started building the Brickchandelier to check out the possibilities. It reaches over 2 meters and holds over a 1000 bricks.”

A graduate of the Design Academy Eindhoven, Pepe Heykoop is known for his innovative chair designs including the Restless Chair.
