GreenMuze Meat Consumption Postcard.

It has been a busy couple of months for GreenMuze.com as we become more involved in the global environmental community. Website traffic is increasing, we have a new Twitter account, and sales have been great at our GreenMuze Store – a big thanks to all our visitors for their support.

We love meeting and chatting (even if it is just in cyberspace!) with like-minded folk. So we have become involved with some rather cool green events of late. Some of our newfound green best friends include:

The Going Green Film Festival

We are enthusiastic media sponsors for the first annual Going Green Film Festival (GGFF) in Los Angeles from April 2-4th. The GGFF, with the motto of REthink, REplenish, REcommit, will feature more than thirty environmental films covering everything from toxicity in kids to the problem of plastic to the culture of dumpster diving in Los Angeles. We have been running a GGFF Ticket Giveaway and we still have a few All Access Passes left. Drop us a line if you are interested in attending the city’s hottest green film festival.

Cool Eco-Postcards

To promote our website, and raise awareness about the most significant environmental issues, we made some cool 100% recycled paper postcards for the GGFF gift bags. We have been handing them out at local businesses on Salt Spring Island and in Victoria – they have proven to be quite the hit. Designed to cover some of the basic things we can all do to live lighter on Momma Earth, we have cards highlighting the importance of food sustainability, meat consumption, eliminating pesticide use and plastic consumption. We are currently working on postcards addressing alternative transport, overpopulation, green housing and bottled water consumption. Stay tuned.

Salt Spring Island Earth Day

GreenMuze is also a proud sponsor of the Salt Spring Island Earth Day festivities on April 18th, 2010. The event, organized by Gecko Green, will feature live music and entertainment, information tables, crafts for kids, and tasty food vendors at Centennial Square in Ganges from 10am to 3pm. If you are in the neighborhood – drop by and say hello.

The GreenMuze staff will be making a giant Climate Change Solutions Art Canvas with the kids so bring your environmental ideas and solutions! We will supply all the non-toxic paints and crayons. Afterwards, the canvas will be displayed at Gecko Green and hopefully other prominent green locations around Salt Spring Island.

Sprout Watches

This good-looking, super eco-friendly unisex watch, available in twelve cool colors, is the greenest watch we have ever seen, with a 100% recyclable corn resin case and buckle, bamboo dial, mineral crystal lens, a mercury free battery, certified organic cotton strap and packaging made from 80% post consumer materials. A package of seeds is enclosed to turn the cardboard delivery box into a mini lawn.

We were given a couple of Sprout Watches to review on the website (we loved them!) and we donated one to the Salt Spring Island Earth Day raffle – there will be an Earth Day raffle table at the Salt Spring Island Market starting the first weekend in April. Don’t forget to buy a ticket.

We have a second Sprout Watch that we will be giving away via Twitter – follow us to keep informed of all the details.

ICC Local Food Festival

The next event we are sponsoring is the delectable, the sumptuous, the mouth-watering Island Chefs' Collaborative (ICC) Local Food Festival: Defending Our Backyard on May 30th (Sunday) at Fort Rodd Hill National Historic Site in Colwood, British Columbia.

This popular event pairs top chefs with local food producers from all over the region, showcasing and serving up the best of what the community has to offer, while engaging and inspiring the public to think about food sustainability via their palettes. We cannot wait to partake of the delicious goodness of the ICC Local Food Festival! Get your tickets now as they go very quickly.

If you have an event that you need some help promoting, drop us a line as we love to work with organizations and events that are helping to raise awareness about the growing environmental revolution! Find out more about GreenMuze Sponsorship here.

Happy Spring!
