It’s dreadfully rude to brag, but we live in a food paradise on the western coast of Canada and it is that time of year again when our farmers and food producers are conjuring up an incredibly varied and sumptuous harvest of fruit, vegetables, cheese, meads, wines, and meats. Each year, the Vancouver-based community farming organization Farm Folk/City Folk holds the most delicious fundraising event celebrating the harvest of the season, the mouth-watering and highly sumptuous Feast of Fields.

Held on a different farm every year, this gastronomic journey towards a sustainable, local food system helps locals and tourists understand just what goes into producing the gourmet symphony that our local food producers conjure forth season after season.

During the Vancouver Island Feast of Fields, guests wander around a different host farm, held this year at the beautiful Marley Farm in Saanichton, with a wine glass and linen napkin in hand. Feast visitors spend several hours sampling gourmet local cuisine, wines and beers from several hundred Vancouver Island chefs, farmers, vintners, brewers and food artisans, in a bid to raise awareness of the enjoyment and importance of eating locally and sustainably.

As proud sponsors of the Vancouver Island Feast of Fields on September 18th, we have the privilege, aside from being associated with the hottest food event of the season, of offering our readers two sets of tickets to the festival.

However, we do require a little effort from our readers as this isn’t any ordinary event – this is an unforgettable culinary feast that showcases the very best our chef and farming community has to offer.
So here is what you have to do to be eligible to enter:
1) You need to send your name and mailing address to GreenMuze.com
2) If you are on Twitter, please follow VIFeastofFields to keep posted on all the latest VIFeast news.
3) If you are on Facebook, please "Like" the FarmFolk/CityFolk page and stay up to date on important food issues in our community.
We will post the names of the lucky winners on our Twitter and Facebook accounts and notify them via e-mail by September 8th, 2011.
