The Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF),held each year from September 25th to October 10th, is often a place for eco-filmmakers to showcase their work. We asked American documentary filmmaker Sam Bozzo – director of Blue Gold: World Water Wars - to blog for us at the VIFF. Blue Gold will have its world premiere at the festival. Frankly, the VIFF is one hot ticket. More than 150,000 people are expected to attend the approximately 575 screenings of 350 films from 60 countries.
So we told Sam, in no uncertain terms, that we want the insider scoop on what it is like for a hot young filmmaker to premiere his eco-film to the world. We want all the minutiae. Sam will send us his daily blogs revealing the juicy details of what it is like to be a
director at a film festival – we’ll get the info on where he goes, what type of hors d’oeuvres he eats, who he meets and what other eco-artists he bumps into. We also asked him to check out some of the other hot green titles premiering at the VIFF and let our readers know what are the environmental movies to look out for in 2009.
Sam will send his first VIFF dispatch on October 7th and will finish up on October 10th. If you are in Vancouver, Blue Gold: World Water Wars screens Thursday, October 9th at 7:15 p.m. at the Empire Granville and Friday, October 10th at 1:00 p.m. at the Visa Screening Room @ Empire Granville.
