Today we had a private screening of the film with the sponsors, Vancity Bank, who arranged a theatre and chose Blue Gold for The Ark Environmental and Animal Film Series here at VIFF. It went well and I'm happy the DigiBeta looked good (some small tweaks to do next week but overall good).
It was good to get a practice run on introducing the film in front of an audience (which I always hate doing) and Q&A after, but all responded well. They had a small reception after and it was rewarding to chat with so many people interested in the topic and wanting to help spread the word of the film.
For the premiere Thursday I think I will step out after introducing and return for Q&A. No need to torture myself.
However I do not feel I like to watch my films in front of an audience. Never have. For the premiere Thursday I think I will step out after introducing and return for Q&A. No need to torture myself. I'm so glad the film is getting an audience and beginning its life, though. The Thursday screening is sold out and Friday is on its way. They added a Sunday screening but I won't be here (Mark Achbar will though).
After the private screening we went to a fantastic party. I was able to talk to filmmaker Brice Laine about his film The Dancing Forest about his African village northern Togo, which was plagued with infertile soil, prompting a group to form educating the population of ancient techniques to improve agriculture.
