The vertical Urban Camping tower design is a response to a growing interest in city traveling. Belgian architects Oscar Rommens and Joris Van Reusel, from import.export, have created a unique camping tower for urban areas, providing low budget outdoor options for travelers.
Constructed from steel, the four level (and up to eight platforms) structure allows individuals to have safe, affordable accommodation within city limits in a community of fellow campers.
“Existing low budget hotels, but also contemporary youth hostels, are a limited and often poor answer to the demand for cheap lodging in the city-centers,” explain the architects. “On the other hand, campers trying to visit cultural city centers often encounter camping areas located in the city’s anonymous expanding outer limits.”
