The Plantagon Greenhouse is an innovative geodesic dome farm design to produce food in urban areas. The Greenhouse, from Swedish Plantagon Non-Profit Association, is designed to produce organic food with clean air and water in urban environments, cutting costs and environmental damage by eliminating transportation or food miles (distance traveled from farm to plate).
Unlike conventional glass houses, the Plantagon Greenhouse uses the full volume of the greenhouse to accommodate the needs of the plants rather than the humans.
“After maximizing what is good for the plants, advanced technology is used to help human beings take care of the plants in a rational way,” explain the designers.
