Recycled wine boxes are the basis for a new interactive exhibit at the Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) in New York City. MADCrush, a pop-up wine bar, is the collaboration between designer Stephanie Goto and Crush Wine & Spirits.
Goto has created an eco dining environment with temporary furniture and decor constructed from recycled wine boxes and wine served in recyclable glasses. Goto's design includes bars and tables crafted from repurposed wine boxes, a seating landscape made from corrugated cardboard wine box dividers and a textured wall made of wine box inserts that also doubles as a changeable menu peg-board.
"This project re-imagines the possibilities of materiality, how materials, still true to their original form, can be transformed so that they can be perceived in a different way," explained designer Stephanie Goto.
MADCrush is open on five Thursday evenings through the end of August, from 5:00pm until 10:30pm. Each Thursday, a top New York chef will provide a small menu accompanied by Crush wines.
