Proposed Shipping Container Clinic in Baní, Dominican Republic.

Used industrial shipping containers have been upcycled into a health clinic to treat women and children in the rural community of Baní in the Dominican Republic. In this collaborative project, Triton Containers donated the containers, Boston-based Anshen + Allen provided design expertise and Pawtucket-based construction services company Stack Design Build re-purposed the 8x20ft (2.44x6.1m) steel boxes into a clinic which is expected to be completed by Spring 2010.

The brilliant design idea originates with Containers to Clinics (C2C), a Boston-based non-profit organization that helps to provide health care to the world’s poorest communities by creating inexpensive small clinics from recycled shipping containers.
