Blue Crystal, created by German designers Frank and Sven Sauers, is an organic design concept for a floating luxurious, multi-purpose iceberg complex off the coast of Dubai.

Designed to mirror a swimming world of ice, the multi-level concept includes a multiplicity of luxurious restaurants, an underwater lounge and a ballroom spread out over five levels. Blue Crystal is designed to offer residents and visitors a reprieve from the hectic pace of city life.

Created by combining organic forms found in nature with the elemental structure of ice, Blue Crystal utilizes components of traditional Arabic ornamental design to create an opulent but peaceful water retreat. At the core of the design is a glass cylinder that operates as a distributor of natural light throughout the structure. A self-sufficient solar energy system and natural cooling system ensures Blue Crystal can operate independent of the mainland.

At night, the structure transforms into an enormous art installation that illuminates Blue Crystal for people standing on the shore.
