An innovative Korean art school made from recycling shipping containers is the focus of a new project by New York-based LOT-EK Architects.

The APAP Open Art School in Anyang, Korea will double as both an art school and a public exhibition space; the art project is located above a busy pedestrian crossway connecting both sides of the river. Located on the sloping banks of the river, the Open School features three different areas with a public amphitheatre at ground level, the second level is raised 3m (9ft 10”) above the ground and is comprised of eight shipping containers that make up the actual school classrooms. A third level offers stunning views over the river.
