The Dry Creek Outbuildings, from American architects Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, offer a minimalist place to work and rest while surrounded by a gorgeous forest. Constructed from sustainable Western Red Cedar, the three buildings are comprised of a 600sq.ft (55.7sq.m) Guest House, 550sq.ft (51sq.m) Caretaker Cottage, and a 370sq.ft (34sq.m) Caretaker Office.

The wooden buildings are situated in Woodside, California, and offer low impact small-scale living and office space. Rebuilt on pre-existing foundations leftover from previous structures, the three buildings include a simple galley kitchen, bathroom, office and utility space. The structures feature ribbon windows strategically placed in the building façades to provide gorgeous views of the forest and creek, while introducing light into the interior.

“The pure glazed living areas open themselves onto the natural world,” describes the architects’ website. “The siding and structure provide warmth to the glass boxes, and in the evening hours the spaces glow.”
