The Apple Campus 2.

Apple’s new Cupertino Headquarters looks like a futuristic UFO has landed in Santa Clara County, California as Steve Jobs recently revealed the design for Apple Campus 2, created with architect firm Foster + Partners as the lead, including ARUP and local civil engineering firm Kier & Wright.

The Apple Campus 2.

The Apple Campus 2 is a 4-storey curved glass and circular building that provides an incredible 2.8 million sq.ft (64.3 acres or 260,000sq.m) of real estate to house 13,000 Apple employees. Inside, a 1,000 seat auditorium, fitness center and a 300,000 sq.ft (27,870sq.m) research center will provide the infrastructure for the company to continue developing and marketing their products.

The building promises to provide a tech-rich smart working environment that has high standards for sustainability, including natural ventilation to reduce air conditioning power demand. It will also include its own power generating Central Plant that will offset the energy demands placed upon Cupertino’s power grid. Outside, an abundance of green space will be provided for the benefit of employees, the environment, and the neighborhood.
