The Monterey Bay Shores Ecoresort, Wellness Spa and Residences is a major green development planned on the coast of California. The resort is pulling out all the stops to be as eco-friendly as possible with a design protecting and restoring 29 acres of sensitive dune formations (although this might be a sticky point for California conservationists) and 6.5 acres dedicated to native species like the Monterey Spineflower Habitat, Smith Blue Butterfly, and the Snowy Plover.
The resort also features a heap of other green features including; 5 acres of living roofs, rainwater capture systems, zero stormwater runoff, biological water treatment systems, living walls, wind energy, solar panels for energy and hot water heating, 30% of their energy production will come from alternative fuel sources, geothermal pumps, living pools, a herb garden, connection to regional bike paths and funding local environmental projects through The Environmental Trust.
