The PACO living cube is a design concept for compact living in a variety of environments. PACO is a 3m x 3m x 3m box with a roof that opens to let in light, fresh air and visitors. The PACO includes a sleeping hammock, a sink, toilet, desk and shower.
The innovative compact living design from Jo Nagasaka+Schemata Architecture Office in Japan, demonstrates that it is possible to live with less. The design includes all the minimum requirements to live in a small space.
“We produced it as a conceptual model to imagine a new life style,” explains architect and designer Jo Nagasaka.
The lid of the cube can be opened to let in sunlight and enjoy the landscape and the lid can be closed when privacy or darkness is needed.
The PACO living cube easily fits into a number of landscapes and the self-contained unit is easy to transport.
With world populations increasing, architects and designers keep coming up with cutting edge housing designs to accommodate the growing population. One thing is certain, the need for affordable and sustainable housing is only going to increase in the future.
