Cavallum, is a wine-box lamp created by Brazilian designer Tati Guimarães based in Barcelona, Spain. The lamp reflects how packaging can be attractive, functional and sustainable. The Cavallum is a box for a bottle of Cava (the Catalan equivalent of French champagne) that transforms into an elegant lamp after opening the wine.
Originally created as a corporate gift for Hera Holding (a waste management company in Spain), the Cavallum is made from recycled cardboard and wood from controlled reforestation projects.
In 2007, when Hera Holding commissioned the project, they requested a gift that would “…touch deeply the soul and at the same time had a powerful ecological message”. The resulting champagne box lamp was a successful.
