American designer Andrew Brorson explores what the future of architecture will look like when many of the world’s cities are underwater in a futuristic residential skyscraper design.
The Contingency Ark, a recent finalist in eVolo’s 2010 Skyscraper Competition, utilizes a system of plug-in mobile floating homes that can plug into the skyscraper’s steel lattice. A series of similar structures will be built in major cities around the world, allowing residents to float their home to each new location when they desire a change.
Each Contingency Ark structure will provide water, energy and waste management to residents.
