Lead singer of the Flaming Lips, Wayne Coyne’s renovated Oklahoma City home, designed by Fitzsimmons Architects, can be described as a ‘back-to-the-future 1950s’ vision of the 21st century home.
The newly renovated warehouse comes complete with space-age fittings, modern art décor, natural lighting. The Coyne’s also own the surrounding six properties and have remodeled them into storage and guest homes.
They raised the roof of their warehouse home, and fitted lots of windows. The roof is double-skinned and provides shading from the sun. A private garden is adjacent to the Coyne’s bedroom, with a wood-burning stove for heat and a skull tile pattern in the floor. The cave-like bathroom is Gaudian white concrete and illuminated by LED lighting.
The living room was a three-car garage, and outside the home, in the courtyard is the 'Dragon Egg'. which looks like a supe-rsized disco ball-like that reflects light beams into the surrounding buildings and rooms.
