HGTV Green Dream House Giveaway

E-mail Print

HGTV continues to make small steps to green their house and garden television programming empire. Last year was the first time that the home and garden television giant added a green home giveaway to their Dream Home Giveaway Sweepstakes Contest.

HGTV is in a position to have considerable influence by adopting more ‘green’ aspects to their home and lifestyle television programming. More than 89 million U.S. households receive HGTV programming and HGTV remains one of cable’s top-rated networks. Their website, HGTV.com, is America’s leading online home and garden destination, attracting an average of 5.2 million unique visitors per month.

In the past, HGTV focused on excessive opulent dream homes in their annual Dream Home Sweepstakes, but for the last two years they have been making efforts to promote green housing with their second annual Green Dream Home Giveaway Sweepstakes.

This year’s contest features a green home in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Like all their Home Giveaway Sweepstakes, the home will be built and filmed during the season. Viewers can tune in and watch their Green Dream Home being built. Currently there is not much detail online about what makes the house green.

A greenhouse should be located where it receives more sunlight. The first choice of location is south or southeast side of a building or shade trees. The sunlight all day is the best, but the morning sun just east plants. morning sun is more desirable because it allows the creation of food production processes will start soon, so growth is maximized. east side location captures the most November to February sunlight. Secondly, the best sites are southwest and west of the large structures, where plants receive sunlight during the day. structures of the North-enterprises, the worst place, and it is only as good as the plants that require little light.
