DiCaprio has teamed up with Global Green USA to auction off an opportunity to meet and greet the heart-throb actor at the premiere of his next film. The auction is currently taking place on eBay and proceeds will benefit Global Green USA’s climate initiatives.
"We are grateful Leonardo agreed to participate in Global Green’s eBay auction by offering up incredibly unique items - including a once in a lifetime opportunity for four people to meet him and attend his next film premiere," said Matt Petersen, CEO of Global Green USA. “Given the urgent need to pursue smart solutions to the environmental and economic crises, the auction proceeds will help support Global Green’s initiatives.”
By bidding on these items, people will help Global Green combat climate change and pursue important environmental imperatives,” explained DiCaprio, a Global Green USA board member. "As science continues to point for the need to urgently act on climate change, we need everyone – individuals, nonprofits, politicians, and business – to take action.“
The auction runs from April 15th to April 22nd (Earth Day) and people can bid on various eco-items donated by DiCaprio, including an eco-friendly "experience" package (consisting of a meet & greet and photo op at the upcoming red carpet premiere of his film Shutter Island, complete with added green elements such as a green hotel, eco car service to/from the event, and other elements), and various signed fan memorabilia (including DVDs, movie posters, personalized headshots).
