Elle Macpherson, Gethin Jones and Olympian Vicky Pendleton recently launched a campaign to get the British on their bikes. The Skyride campaign, a collaboration between Sky and British Cycling, announced a series of mass-participation summer cycling events.
The announcement came as new research found that over seven million bikes are unused in sheds, gardens, and garages across the UK.
“To help spread the message on how cycling can be simple, safe and fun; Sky will promote a range of cycling ambassadors, including supermodel Elle Macpherson and Olympic Gold Medallist Victoria Pendleton,” explained Ian Drake, Chief Executive of British Cycling.
At the launch, Elle Macpherson said; "I cycle as much as I can, whether I'm in the centre of London or getting away from the city. I think the idea of encouraging people to cycle more is fantastic and I urge everyone…to take part in one of the Skyride events.”
