Jessica Biel, Emile Hirsch, Isabel Lucas, Alexandria Cousteau, Elizabeth Gore plus several other celebrities and reporters reached the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro. The stars reached the top of the Tanzanian mountain at 1:30 a.m. on January 12, 2010.
The 19,340ft (5,895m) climb was organized to raise awareness about the global water crisis. The project was organized by Ethiopian-born musician Kenna whose father lost several family members to waterborne illnesses.
Flying a bunch of celebrities around the world for PR stunts does raise awareness about environmental issues, and hopefully the publicity will more than offset the negative effects of the greenhouse gases involved in transporting them, plus entourage, there and back.
