Hope For Haiti Now telethon organized by George Clooney.

The Hope For Haiti Now: A Global Benefit For Earthquake Relief telethon, organized by George Clooney with the support of more than 100 celebrity friends including Haitian musician Wyclef Jean, has set a new record for fundraising for disaster relief.

The Haiti earthquake telethon has raised, to date, a whopping US$58 million dollars (€41M). However, the final figures are expected to be much higher as iTunes sales, and large personal donors and corporate donors have not been factored in yet.

The Hope For Haiti Now telethon has set a few more records as well – including most widely broadcast telethon in world history, as well as the telethon album has the distinction of being the biggest one-day pre-order in iTunes history. The telethon performances are available for download at iTunes.

100% of the proceeds from the telethon will be divided between Oxfam America, Partners in Health, the Red Cross, UNICEF, United Nations World Food Programme, Yele Haiti Foundation, and the Clinton Bush Haiti Foundation.
