Necker Nymph is a submersible plane that can fly underwater, down to 40m (130ft) at up to 6 knots (6.9mph, 11.1kph), carrying two passengers and the pilot, designed by Graham Hawkes, of Hawkes Ocean Technologies.
The Nymph is another uber-luxury toy from Sir Richard Branson and his Virgin Limited Edition exclusive travel offerings, with a weekly rental price of US$25,000 (€17,860) at Branson’s 76 acre British Virgin Island retreat.
The Necker Nymph (also called the Deep Flight Merlin) has open cockpits for all-round vision, and passengers wear normal scuba breathing gear for the two-hour excursions.

The submersible weighs 750kg (1,650lb) carries extra oxygen supplies, is positively buoyant and caries flares and a radio in the event of an emergency. Using aircraft like wings that produce upside-down lift, as the Nymph gains speed the negative lift can be used to push the Nymph deeper into the ocean.
The Nymph can be used for four excursions a day, and has near-zero environmental impact according to Virgin, with low light and noise emissions that ensure the fragile ocean ecosystems remain undisturbed. The underwater craft uses a 10kwh lithium phosphate rechargeable battery that can recharge in 10hours.
