Montreal Bans Pamela Anderson Poster

Pamela Anderson PETA poster.

A new Pamela Anderson PETA campaign poster has been banned by Montreal city officials due its ‘sexist’ nature. In the advertisement, Anderson’s scantily clad body features a butcher’s diagram with various parts of her body marked like cuts of meat including ‘rib’, ‘rump’ and ‘breast’. The caption reads ‘'All animals have the same parts. Have a heart, go vegetarian’.

The City of Montreal issued the following statement explaining that they could not endorse the image of Ms. Anderson: “'It is not so much controversial as it goes against all principles public organizations are fighting for in the everlasting battle of equality between men and women.”

The Canadian actress responded at a press conference with “In a city that is known for it's exotic dancing and for being progressive and edgy, how sad that a woman would be banned from using her own body in a political protest”.

Fact is, the poster has not been banned from Montreal. The only story is that City Hall declined to participate in the launch of the campaign. The poster can go up all over town as far as the city's concerned. (I run a blog about Montreal news, and this story's been repeated a lot with the same misunderstanding about what actually happened here.)

I find it hilarious that they put a woman with fake boobs in this ad... most animals don't have silicone implants!
