Ryan Reynolds Whale Documentary

Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds has signed on to narrate a documentary about Luna, the famed orphaned Nootka Sound killer whale that tried to befriend humans. The project, tentatively titled The Whale, will explore the story of the whale that was separated from his pod and ended up endearing himself to the world with his playful behavior and antics. Unfortunately, Luna was considered a nuisance and hazardous to marine traffic and eventually died in a tugboat propeller accident.

"As rambunctious and surprising as a visitor from another planet, Luna endears himself to humans with his determination to make friends, which leads to laughter, conflict and unexpected consequences,” explained a press release for The Whale.

Reynolds and his wife, actress Scarlett Johansson, are executive producers for the project.
