China is planning to build one of the world’s largest on-grid solar power stations, eventually supplying more than 1GW of solar power (more than most nuclear power plants). The China Technology Development Group Corporation (CTDC), a provider of solar energy products and solutions in China, is focusing on using Silicon thin film technology, and recently announced that, in conjunction with the Qinghai New Energy Group Co., Ltd. (QNE), they have signed an agreement with the government of Qinghai Haixi Mongolian-Tibetan Autonomous Region, to build a 30MW on-grid solar power station in the Qaidam Basin in northwestern China.
