Marcelo da Luz continues to break more records in his Xof1 Solar Car. In the Yukon, da Luz traveled more than 300 miles (482kms) in day in his solar car breaking his previous record of 292 miles (470kms) covered in 24 hours. However, this time it was over hilly terrain.
"Breaking the distance record was very significant because of the terrain,” said da Luz. Xof1 Solar Car’s one-day distance record in over a year of traveling was 292 miles, mainly on flat terrain. “Driving 300 miles in one day over hilly terrain was amazing because we have pushed the limits of what the car is capable of.”
The Xof1 Solar Car has spent the last year shattering numerous world records including being the first solar car in the world to operate in below freezing temperatures and the first solar car in the world to drive on an ice road, as well as the first solar car to reach the Arctic circle. It is also first solar car to charge with the power of the midnight sun and last but certainly not least, the Xof1 is the world distance record holder for distance traveled in a solar car.
