A Tesla Roadster traveled 313 miles (501km) on a single electric charge during Australia’s annual Global Green Challenge. Simon Hackett and Emilis Prelgauskas completed the 313 miles (501 km) road trip when they traveled from Alice Springs to Coober Pedy in their Tesla Roadster - a distance that sets a new EV single charge distance record for a production electric vehicle.
Hackett and Prelgauskas were driving a 2008 Tesla Roadster as part of the 10th annual Global Green Challenge; a high profile rally for production, prototype and experimental cars.
The Tesla Roadster is the first production automobile to use lithium-ion battery cells and the first production EV with a range greater than 200 miles (320 km) per charge.
