Germany’s Spiegel Magazine asked seven top automakers to envision a greener sleigh for Santa. The results range from the slick to the funky, but the one thing they all have in common is there is no animal labor required and all the rides make Santa’s work easier on the environment.
After the automakers ‘pimped Santa’s ride’, the sleigh options included an environmentally friendly 1L (1 litre) diesel hybrid ultra lightweight car from VW that gets more than 100 kilometers on just one liter of diesel (about 235mpg).
Mercedes, Mazda and Opel both produced more luxurious and futuristic rides for Santa. BMW designed a Mini-convertible based sleigh and Porsche created a racy (Panamera luxury sedan) sleigh for Santa. Ford created a compact rendition of Santa’s ride.
