The advertising world is currently abuzz with a recent series of Mini Cooper adverts produced by Amsterdam-based UbachsWisbrun/JWT. In the print and billboard adverts, an enormous cardboard Mini Cooper box, complete with ripped paper and torn ribbons, has been discarded in the street with all the other Christmas garbage.

The advertisements are clever and captivating, but do they promote a message of waste? In most cities around the world unsorted trash left on the street is put in the landfill – recycling is only picked up when carefully separated.
Perhaps the person who received the Mini Cooper for Xmas was having such a good time with their new car that they forget to sort their recycling.
