The big news in the all-electrical vehicle market is that Nissan will price its zero-emission electric Leaf at about US$32,000 (€23,850) before grants. American federal grants and rebate initiatives bring the Leaf’s base price down to about US$25,000 (€18,600).

Nissan is also offering customers a 220-volt personal charging docking option that includes a home assessment and installation for about $1100 (€820) after federal tax credits.

In addition to being an all electric vehicle, the Leaf has energy-efficient LED headlights and utilizes recycled and recyclable materials in the seat fabric, instrument panel, and front and rear bumper fascias. Other eco-options include a solar panel spoiler.

The Leaf goes on sale nationwide in 2011.
