Built from the ground up using the ultimate electric motorcycle technology and boasting 50 ft-lbs of torque, this sexy eco-motorcycle can do everything a gas-powered motorcycle can do. It also gets a 0-30mph (0-48kph) time of 2 seconds thanks to instant torque delivery, with a 56mph top speed that can be reduced to the electric motorbike regulated 30mph legal limit.
The 2009 Zero X off-road electric motorcycle is faster, stronger, and more durable even in the most demanding terrain, than some on the market. The manufacturers have upgraded elements of the drivetrain, frame, suspension and more, to make it a premium off-road bike that won’t be as polluting, nor as noisy as their gas powered equivalents.
The proprietary lithium ion power pack allows up to 300Amps to be drawn to power the German sourced electric motor and handmade aircraft grade aluminum frame combine to form a motorcycle that is the fastest, lightest and cleanest on the market.
The high-tech lithium ion battery pack can be recharged in 2 hours, and a second one can be swapped out (fully charged) with the one you have just used up, so the fun doesn’t have to stop when the charge runs out. The manufacturer claims it gives better performance than a 250cc gas engine bike, costs only 1 cent a mile to ride, is completely recyclable and uses only one tenth the greenhouse gases (from a typical US power grid) that a gas driven bike would.
A Zero X costs around US$7,750 and a spare battery is around US$2,950 and the charger costs about US$449.
