The iChange concept vehicle will make a world premiere at the Geneva International Motor Show in March 2009. The iChange design concept is a 1-2-3-seater car with a "trick-tail" by Swiss designers Rinspeed. So far, only design drawings have been released.
The body structure morphs via an “electronic trick-tail” to increase the number of passengers it can carry. The streamlined sports car silhouette is for a single driver, but after reconfiguring the body shape two more passengers can sit behind the driver. The iChange is a zero-emission car with ultra low weight, low aerodynamic drag and an all electric propulsion using a 130kw-electric motor.
Rinspeed’s design philosophy is summed up by founder Frank M. Rinderknecht, as “Thinking about variability and the constantly changing energy demand, we have created an extremely flexible vehicle”. Rinspeed has produced a series of thought-provoking vehicles over the years, including helicopters and watercraft as well as autos. They also refurbish classic cars and tune Porsches.
