To promote their new third generation 2010 Prius hybrid, Toyota is planting 18-foot plastic solar flowers in major cities across the USA. The plastic solar flowers provide free Wi-Fi service and the ability to charge small gadgets to anyone in the near vicinity of the flowers.

The art/promotion installation called Harmony Between Man, Nature and Machine and will move across each city to garner interest in the new Prius. The solar panels on the flowers mirror the solar panels on the roof of the third generation Prius that will use the solar panels to ventilate the interior when parked in the sun.

The flowers have been in Boston, are currently at Manhattan’s Flatiron Plaza and are scheduled to make appearances in major US cities in the next few months.
