Solar powered robots will soon be assisting with guiding traffic at highway and road construction sites in Qatar. The Arab Emirate roadworkers unions may not be impressed by having their jobs taken over by machines as the new scheme would see the solar powered eco-robots filling in with traffic control duties.

The Qatar’s Public Works Authority (Ashghal), in conjunction with the Qatar Science Club, have designed a robot that continuously harvests the abundant sun energy in Qatar and recharges the mechanical workers onboard batteries allowing the robots to function 24 hours a day.
