Solarflora, an outdoor 90watt solar flower sculpture designed by Nectar Design, was recently installed at the New City School's urban garden in Long Beach, California. Designed to hold three solar panels, one in each leaf, the solar sculpture is intended as an attractive and engaging means of housing solar power collectors in pubic areas.
“The school-based urban garden seemed like a natural place to introduce the Solarflora,” explained Nectar founder Darren Saravis. "The Solarflora will be a perfect fit on sidewalks, malls, parks, and other public spaces of all types. Of course, even Johnny Appleseed had to start with one seedling, and we can't think of a better place to put ours that is somewhere where young people are learning to shape America's green future."
